Even the oldest of guilds come to an end. After months of struggleing we decided that it was enough. That it wouldn't be worthwhile to continue on like this. Any other guild would have made this decision much earlier. Not AAK. AAK is well known for it's tight groups, where friendships are being made, where a guild master can't be troll. A guild with an amazing atmosphere, one that is world-class. However, we still are raiders. And raiders want to raid.
Anti Alliance Krew was founded by Nerualnight at 11-06-2006, making it one of the oldest guilds on the server. He set the very foundation for this guild. However, all things come to an end. By the time TOC came out Nerualnight lost his feeling for the game and retired, handing over GM to a strange man from the land of the Springboks. A man called Dragonsangel.
Dragonsangel led the guild to further glory, reaching our best days in ICC. At that very time we were one of best 25M guilds on the server. ICC dragged on too long though and it was waiting till Cataclysm.
Cataclysm. I personally love the encounters, but it was killing for AAK. Just before Cata gone live we lost some of our best players (I'll have to whistle innocently here). Some went to other guilds, but the main thing giving us a blow was the shared loot between 10M and 25M raids. A handful of good players left off to make a 10M friends guild.
The start of Cataclysm was hard. Due to our losses we couldn't maintain our beloved 25M raiding. A merge with Infinitus Odium (founded by a former member of AAK) and the comeback of some good players got us back in action.
This momentum couldn't be maintained. When a crappy game called Rift came out 9 of our best players switched over to that game. We managed to get some back, but we couldn't maintain proper 25M raiding anymore. It was then that Dragonsangel decided to end it.
The future of AAK was unclear at that time. Would there be anyone to pick up and rebuild the guild? There was. Proximate took over the lead, with a new staff (IRdruid and myself). However, because we weren't raiding 25M anymore and one of the best guild masters people have met left a lot of players left. After 2 months of struggleing Proximate decided to hand the guild over to me.
I took desperate measures to get our guild in full glory. However, it's hard building a guild when your server is dying. We decided a guild transfer would be an option, but after 2 months of hard work we decided it was the best if we would stop raiding.
That doesn't mean AAK will vanish as a private bank. We still have our ventrilo server up and the guild will stay open as a social guild, also to keep contacts open.
I would like to thank everyone who ever contributed to the guild, especially the ones who stood by us in tough times. It was a true honor to play with you guys, to lead you all.
